Hello Alice,

Welcome to crafthaus, the network for craft artists and those who support them! I am very glad you joined us! Your crafthaus membership is valid through July 15, 2013.

Please look around and add your thoughts to the groups, blogs and discussions. Crafthaus is a participatory sport!

Please note that ALL images sent to the website are vetted to assure a measure of overall quality control. Unlike other image sharing websites, crafthaus is not a "free-for-all". Our members present their work in front of an educated and critical audience so the photos have to be GREAT. Our goal is to show our members' work in the best possible light. From the many images received daily, we aim to post as many as possible. Crafthaus heartily encourages comments from the membership, however, with regard to photos posted or not, we have a strict "NO WHINING" policy in effect! If your images don't get posted they do not meet crafthaus quality standards. Please review the photo guidelines under the FAQ tab.

If there are ever any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email me via crafthauseditor at live dot com, I will do my best to be of help.

I hope you will enjoy being with this network, and will find the exchanges interesting and fun.

Again: Welcome !

Brigitte Martin

"Thank you very much for your post, 2Roses! I agree with you, clear-sighted planning of the inevitable will actually go a long way in easing our minds. Fretting about the unknown will do nobody any good. Thanks!"

Build-up

This week has been taken up with the tough paperwork exercises of re-writing the whole curriculum at the School of Jewellery to make it more dynamic and flexible. We've taken the opportunity to make the whole thing more craft-based, which is…See More

"We have organized and attended more artist estate sales over the last 40 years than I can remember. Our experience is chiefly with jewelers, lapidaries, and metalsmiths. There seems to be a very distinct and repetitive pattern to these…"

Harriete Estel Berman commented on Brigitte Martin's blog post Stuff it: Millennials nix their parents’ treasures (Washington Post)
"Very interesting articles and at the same time, a very sad story. It all just fits right into the fact that there is a dwindling market for new or seasoned craft, even craft that had a previously established value.  "

"Great comment by the 2Roses! Thanks, guys. Fellow deep sighers, it seems more people in the field are currently looking into these questions. Here is an interesting post by Leslie Ferrin which I saw on Critical Craft Forum on May 19: WHAT HAPPENS…"
