Years ago when I had to decide between becoming a starving artist or pursuing an education that would “make me money”, I decided to give up painting and study communication design at Parsons School of Design. I don’t regret my decision because I met some amazing people, learned and lived. Without all these unique experiences I wouldn’t have discovered the love for creating eco-conscious wearable couture. I met my mentor those many years ago, Alexander Liberman. He once told me “a mistake is never a mistake when you see it as an opportunity to use your imagination.” My pieces are the “mistakes” that happen when salvaged, recycled, natural materials come together. I believe in respecting the materials I use by letting them speak for themselves. Embracing the tattered and disheveled quality of the materials is what I find beautiful and inspiring. My work is sometimes messy and imperfect, just like life, just like me, just like you. I reclaim garments, fabrics and found objects from my surroundings and send them off into the world utterly transformed. Recycled and always one of a kind.

Thank you for the compliments Beatrice. Miro yes but you know who really turned me around in my early years ( as far as painters ) was Arshile Gorky. He keeps cropping up in my work.
Best to you!!!! (thanks)

Thanks! I am so glad you like my work. I think we are going in opposite directions. :) I am heading away from metal and really enjoying more natural materials like hair, and you are moving towards metal. :)

You should take a course on soldiering. I bet you could find an introductory course near by. Have you ever seen craftallert.com? I think it deals with shows and workshops in Canada and America, though I am not sure. I used to work at a jewellery gallery with workshops and we held courses that taught basic metal work. You would probably really enjoy it. I could see wire work with your fiber pieces too and wire is fun and easy to learn the basics. Let me know if you want any specific advice on metal working or techniques.

If you do soldier you can be messy, but the soldier turns yellow over time. Which could be cool, but you should be aware of it. :)

I hope you get into the groove again. I go through stages...best to just work when you feel like it. :)

I love the way you combined wood and other materials to weaving/crocheting/beading. So much details! Great work!

Hey thanks! Your last name is almost as cool as mine. I wonder if way back down the line we're related. Your work is awesome, I love the combination of materials.
