Profile Information

Where do you live ? City, State and Country
Miami, Florida
Place of Work ? Example: Studio, College, Gallery, Museum, ...)
Bee Hive Girl Studio
I am a .... Example: Student, Maker, Educator, etc.
My work is a visual representation of how I interpret humanity’s failures and triumphs. I create work that shows these failures and triumphs and how it has caused my life and myself to change in the most unexpected ways. My pieces are visual stories of the process of cause and effect.

The spiritual and contemplative dimensions of my work are obvious at times but sometimes not. I have created my own language by using icons and symbols repeated in my work.

I don’t want ideas to hold me hostage, I choose instead to work with them as sources of conceptual inspiration that eventually turn into experiences; dissolving points of reference and peeling away layers of our own habitual haze about the world around us.

Thank you Beatrice. I appreciate it. And, yes the dead rose is what touches me a lot more than the live one. The live rose is all about "pretty" and perfection and the dead rose has the beauty of vulnerability and the tenderness of the decay process.

Thanks! I am so glad you like my work. I think we are going in opposite directions. :) I am heading away from metal and really enjoying more natural materials like hair, and you are moving towards metal. :)

You should take a course on soldiering. I bet you could find an introductory course near by. Have you ever seen craftallert.com? I think it deals with shows and workshops in Canada and America, though I am not sure. I used to work at a jewellery gallery with workshops and we held courses that taught basic metal work. You would probably really enjoy it. I could see wire work with your fiber pieces too and wire is fun and easy to learn the basics. Let me know if you want any specific advice on metal working or techniques.

If you do soldier you can be messy, but the soldier turns yellow over time. Which could be cool, but you should be aware of it. :)

I hope you get into the groove again. I go through stages...best to just work when you feel like it. :)

I love the way you combined wood and other materials to weaving/crocheting/beading. So much details! Great work!

Thank you for your comments. Your work is wonderful, so tactile, I just want to touch it and rub it on my skin. :) It looks like the earth made your work, like it grew it self. Beautiful.
