Carnavale in Bienne, watch makery, and random snap shots from the month!

I got to go to Carnavale in Bienne with some of my FInnish friends (and we are all going to Finland at the end of April as well!).  It was really fun and we had on proper costumes.  At first, we saw NO people in costume, but then realized it was still to early (only 10pm) and low and behold, more arrived after midnight. Europeans really know how to stay out all night.…See More

Part two, the Musée d'Orsay and Dali Exhibition and some random shots

I had such a great time being a tourist in Paris, I want to go back and explore a bit more and some obscure things as well.  Next time Gadget, next time bwahhhahhhahhha. Some of the exhibition was able to be photographed, so I did so liberally.  This is a sketch in just ink, I think it's magnificent.  This reminds me of a doodle…See More

Paris, the city of chilly weather and wondrous things, part one the Louvre and surrounding area.

This past weekend I got to go to Paris to meet up with a great friend whom I haven't seen in ages.  She got to travel from Arizona to escort a Hopper painting home from the Grand Palais, so we did all the tourist things and had a great time.30 minutes after arriving in Paris, our hotel (Hôtel Masséna) was so close to the…See More

The new year is off to a great start

Christmas this year was interesting.  I decided that I would go to my butcher and ask for a turkey, not too big though.  She told me I could have 3-3.5 kg at the most and I said fine; although I was worried that wouldn't feed 5 people.  Tom got home and he seemed pretty small (because he wasn't a frozen butterball turkey, he was a wild(ish) one that still had feathers on his ankles giving the appearance of socks).  And this was my FIRST time cooking a turkey all alone, first time making…See More

Snowy and Beautiful

This winter we got our first snow in October and this month in particular, we have gotten about 3 1/2 feet of snow already.  Though this Christmas week, the temperatures are to soar to 11 degrees (celsius) so no more of the powdery fun stuff. These icicles just formed over the course of the weekend, so fast! …See More

SNAG Toronto part 3

I come from a very different background than most at the conference. I apprenticed with a self taught flutemaker. After 3 years, the only CV I left with was a flute I made that got me hired by a Boston company. I designed my own flute from experience and imagination. To this day my work has always been my only resume. At the SNAG conference almost everyone had a college degree in the arts. Whenever a speaker was introduced, their education highlights were listed along with the schools they were…See More
