Thanks, Angela! Your point is well-taken and one I had not thought of before. Yes, both of us did ultimately give each other time enough to resolve the initial miscommunication. You're right, in my opinion, that people are often in too much of a hu…

Thanks, y'all, your comments made me feel some love. Jennie, it's heartening to get your read on the barometric shift in the artists/buyers marketplace. I hope honest dialog will continue. My feedback on this post (both here and on my blog) has bee…

My friends and I were just discussing the refreshing honesty we saw at the Buyer's Market this year among artists and buyers... there's a shift happening where artists are shedding the protective layers and letting the buyers into the juicy inner sa…

Hi Freda, Wow, I'm really surprised by the emails you've posted. I have found that approaching galleries via email doesn't get the desired outcome. I've become more aware of the fact that anyone who uses words like "cute" etc to describe a person's…

Hi Freda Thanks very much! Glad u like my work. Yes I am only 22! (Although I must be getting old in the head now cos I have to think when someone asks what my age is!)
So glad u like the miniature element of my work. I cant say why, but tiny things just fascinate me. They seem all the more adorable for their smallness. Giant things too amaze me. Any ordinary object in an unusual scale somehow just seems more extraordinary, i think.
Oh and I was a fiend for those little capsule machines too! and those tiny plastic toys u get in christmas crackers...

Love your work too by the way. Theyre so colourful- rich like in a painting. I love how each piece seems to have a hint of a story, so mysterious! Great stuff. They look very tactile. I love the one with the eggs in particular.
I read your blog about the rejection letter too, it made for very interesting reading.

By FB do you mean facebook? If so then yes I do have a facebook. I'm listed as 'Rachel Llewellyn Narrative Jewellery'.

Lovely to hear from you,

Rachel

Rejection Becomes a Teachable Moment or how I ended up writing my own rejection letter

Note: this post first appeared on my personal blog: Freda Zeh. Free to Say. on January 27, 2009. I have received some helpful feedback from readers- especially those with more experience dealing with gallery owners than I have. No doubt this account shows I still have pretty thin skin, but I'm learning. Now I am fairly certain I would have handled the following situation differently, but here's what happened. Let me know what you think, butContinue
