I am a .... Example: Student, Maker, Educator, etc.
I am a jewellery designer and I use sterling silver mostly. I work for myself and am currently learning enamelling on copper which I love. A lot of my designs are inspired by animals...which I also love. I worked in animation for a couple of years before this. My dog, Toni, a lurcher cross, comes into work with me everyday and sleeps, yawns, stretches, turns around a few times, scratches up her bed a bit in an effort to make it more comfy (fails at this), and then goes back to sleep.

Geraldine, the CCA class is full, so that won't be an option for you. I will keep you on my list if I do end up scheduling anything though.

Hi Geraldine, I don't have any workshops planned this year. I'll be teaching a class at California College of the Art in Oakland for the spring semester. I have a list of places wanting to schedule something but I've been needing a break so I haven't set anything up. But maybe sometime in the summer.

Welcome to crafthaus, the network for craft artists, and those who support them! I am very glad you joined us !

Please feel free to look around, meet friends, and start adding your thoughts to the groups, blogs and discussion forums that are posted. Of course, if there is something else you'd much rather talk about, please add that to the site so that the rest of us can chime in. Crafthaus is a participatory sport ! The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it, for sure.

Please note that crafthaus is both a fully edited and a member-financed website, meaning that a small annual fee ($20/yr or $35/2yrs) is involved in being a member here. You will find all the necessary information on how to go about this in the FAQs section of the site. Your membership fee is due on or before December 15, 2010 and is payable through paypal (preferred,) US check or credit card.

ALL images sent to the website editor will be vetted to assure some measure of overall quality control. Unlike other image sharing websites, crafthaus is not a "free-for-all". Members present their work in front of an educated and critical audience (their peers,) so the images have to be GREAT. Our goal is to show our members' work in the best possible light, and from the many images received daily, we try to post as many as possible. Crafthaus heartily encourages comments from the membership, however with regard to photos posted or not, we have a strict "NO WHINING" policy in effect ! If your photos do not get posted they are just not as good as they need to be. Yes, it's really that simple. Just reshoot and resubmit ! No harm done.

Finally, if there are ever any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email me via crafthauseditor@live.com anytime. I will do my best to be of help. I really hope you will enjoy being with this network, and will find the exchanges interesting and fun.

Again: Welcome !

A modern metalsmith/metal artist can be found working in traditional metals as well as in nontraditional materials. The designs can range from the classic to the extravagant, and the techniques can either be centuries old or decidedly current.

The wide range of expression preferences, design options, materials, and processes has lead within our field to unfavorable misconceptions, misunderstandings and in some cases even outright disdain between artists. Can the metal and jewelry field overcome its division and send out a much-needed signal?

We appreciate and respect our historical past and acknowledge that current materials have a rightful place in jewelry/object making!

Arriving at this message is the goal of this traveling exhibition opening at the SNAG conference in Boston 2015, Velvet da Vinci, San Francisco, CA - Aug 19 - Sept 20, 2015, Equinox Gallery, San Antonio, TX - Oct 16 - Nov 15, 2015, Baltimore Jewelry Center, Baltimore, MD - Dec 11, 2015 - Jan 08, 2016, Brooklyn Metal Works, Brooklyn, NY - Feb 5 - Mar 4, 2016.

DETAILS on exhibition premise, call for artists, submission guidelines.....

Rachel and Brigitte will be appearing on the wonderful Jay Whaley Metalsmith Benchtalk Radio Show, talking about the Co:Operation Garnish project, how they came up with the idea, what the project is about and the plans moving forward.

The radio show will be LIVE on air September 25, 2014 @ 6PM EST / 3 PM Pacific.
