Heather Palleiko of HPD attended University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA majoring in Crafts with a focus in metalsmithing. Working with a wide variety of materials that include various precious metals, rare woods, found objects, semi-precious stones and fibers, she has created beautiful wearable works of art for a varied clientele across the country and abroad.

Palleiko successfully began a career in life casting in the early 2000's which she now continues on a request basis through her company H. Palleiko Designs.

Beind the camera... again.

Inevitably I always find myself back behind the camera lense. I really think that eventually I will find myself doing more photography than metalwork. It's been a slow progression but I find myself thinking more about photography than I do about metal.

I have been thinking that this upcoming collaboration with artist Liz Huston might be the catalyst I need to really take the leap into photography full time. My problem really lies in the fact that I like to work in a wide variety of mediums. But… Continue

There is always a hiccup in production...

in this case its my stupid hand held little butane torch. I chose to use it today because unlike my large torch it is way less likely to melt my wire work which is knitted sterling silver for my Lark submission/Cellular project (piece #1)

Note to self: Purchase hoses and gauges for my propane tank.

This is of course, unless one's torch decides to backfire and light your hand on fire. No worries, I am not injured -- I have cat like reflexes when it comes to burning myself; unless its fro… Continue
