I have been working in lower karat metals and developing a line in marriage of metal, copper, shibuichi, skakudo,brass, bronze and still using silver and a small amount of gold. The work is time consuming, but has been well received. I hope to develop a following for these pieces that will pay off in the long run. Price points have been critical in sales. I love working in the higher karat metals. A lot of what I see in the contemporary jewelry catagory is the use of alternative resources such as plastics, resin, fiber, etc. These are get ways to create wearable art. I love the work that is out there. For me
I just love working with metal and stones, and honing my skills and techniques. It will take a while, but the metals market will adjust, just like very thing else does. We just have to keep on doing our work and feeding our creative souls. I hope I didn't go on to long.
