I had so many submissions on my first call that I had to create a second part exhibition. This exhibition focuses on a side of the brooch we usually do not pay much attention to: the back side. Our first look is naturally always trained at the front, but when we do take the time to look at the back of a brooch, it will oftentimes reveal a surprising aspect for us, a delightful little secret. Buckle Up: Belt Buckles Beyond Function

The belt buckle has long been a functional object.  It has only been since the early 20th century that it has truly become a fashion statement.  This exhibition features a collection of contemporary, hand crafted belt buckles that really examine what this amazing accessory can do beyond its solely functional past. Ornamentation is paramount to both the design and execution of my art.  A primary focus among my current pieces lies in the use of thread of to elevate the material and highlight its’ original importance. The thread exists organically as the ornament devoid of function. I rearrange the value placed on these objects and the previously mundane materials with which they are made. The history, craftsmanship, and permanence of antiques and relics provoke my interest to make objects. Ultimately my work offers a contemporary interpretation of tradition.
