DeFine Metal and Fiber

DeFine Metal and Fiber features works that combine metal with fiber or that are made of metal using fiber techniques. These works defy our expectations, showing us how artists are reaching across media boundaries to express themselves.

Ornamentation is paramount to both the design and execution of my art.  A primary focus among my current pieces lies in the use of thread of to elevate the material and highlight its’ original importance. The thread exists organically as the ornament devoid of function. I rearrange the value placed on these objects and the previously mundane materials with which they are made. The history, craftsmanship, and permanence of antiques and relics provoke my interest to make objects. Ultimately my work offers a contemporary interpretation of tradition.
