vitrius enamel, metals, found objects, stones

For me, the creative process is about making connections between past and present, between art and emotion, mixing styles and materials to re-imagine what is possible. I use found objects and unique components to create jewelry that is contemporary, yet has a sense of history.

I think of myself as both an artist and designer, however, design is my worldview; the lens through which I view, evaluate and understand the world. As a maker, my design partiality steers me toward process and technique. I grew up in rural farming country. This early influence created a lifelong love of folk art, indigenous arts and things handcrafted. I learned to value nature, heritage, and storytelling.

My work is a reflection of the world around me, layered and nuanced, as I observe and experience it every day. I love to travel, and to meet people and hear their stories. I love history, and the connection I feel to past civilizations when I use the ancient and revered techniques of metalsmithing. I am fascinated with history and folklore, and my work strives to reflect the convergence of mythology, identity and ornament.
