Jewellery for me is like my diary - my work illustrates my changing path through life and the experiences that were important. My life is constantly changing, so change is the only constant theme in my work. I use humour to record and describe these changes, because of Buddhist philosophy, which teaches us to laugh at those moments that are painful. In my work, ovals and circles can be seen everywhere, symbolising the endless reoccurrence of life and reincarnation.…

Dear Lei,

Welcome to crafthaus, the network for fine craft artists and those who support them! I am very glad you joined us! Your crafthaus membership is valid through May 15, 2012.
Please look around and add your thoughts to the groups, blogs and discussions. Crafthaus is a participatory sport!

Please note that ALL images sent to the website editor are vetted to assure a measure of overall quality control. Unlike other image sharing websites, crafthaus is not a "free-for-all". Our members present their work in front of an educated and critical audience (their peers,) so the photos have to be GREAT. Our goal is to show our members' work in the best possible light. From the many images received daily, we aim to post as many as possible. Crafthaus heartily encourages comments from the membership, however, with regard to photos posted or not, we have a strict "NO WHINING" policy in effect! :-)

If there are ever any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email me via crafthauseditor@live.com anytime, I will do my best to be of help.

I hope you will enjoy being with this network, and will find the exchanges interesting and fun.

Again: Welcome !

Brigitte Martin

Interviewing NCECA 2013 Emerging Artist Linda Swanson

NCECA 2013 Emerging Artist Linda Swanson makes us think about ceramic materials in a new and dynamic way.  Her installation, site specific, fired and unfired work all has an emphasis on time, material and transformation.  Linda generously shared her time and thoughts with me about her current studio practice and the path that has led her there.  I hope you enjoy this interview with Linda Swanson.  You can see more of her work at: …See More

- by Rebecca Rose. 2013, SNAG/crafthaus Scholarship Recipient

For the next 13 months we'll discuss the trials, triumphs, and tribulations of exhibiting  in art shows as emerging artists and established artists.
