Polymer Clay Eclectic - My in my house studio
I am a .... Example: Student, Maker, Educator, etc.
I have been working with polymer clay for 7+ years. I first was producing spindles for hand spinners. For those who do not know a hand spindle is basically a disc that acts as a flywheel on a shaft that provides both a place to grab and spin the spindle and a place to store the newly spun yarn. The shafts were wood and the whorls were a custom blend of polymer clays impressed with designs and then painted with acrylics.
I gradually switched over to mica powders for the decoration. This led to lots of exploration and experimentation with mica powders. I love them! I have even found a way to mix powders to create a true dichroic effect on the surface of the clay. I am marketing them under the name Dazzling Dichros ( you can find them on my artfire site http://www.artfire.com/users/polymerclayeclectic ).
I also produce my own jewelry, sometimes using the dichroic and plain mica powders sometimes not. I love the flowing lines of Art Nouveau and I love fantasy creatures, especially dragons. Swirls and curls are just the thing for me. Maybe it is because of having wildly curly hair? When I found Christi Friesen's style of making dragons, I fell in love. I am working on making the style my own and not trying to imitate Christi, but there is a definite resemblance.
