An engineer in a family of artists, I was raised and educated in New York City. Emerging from a career in technology, my contemporary style is the natural fusion of my engineering background with an intrinsic sense of art and design.
I now live and work in Groton, MA where I founded Castlewerks in 2008. As a designer-maker, I concentrate on custom furniture and cabinetry along with small batch production of my Rocket Age inspired lamps. As my work has developed, I've found myself spending more time on lamps than furniture, so in January of 2011 I launched Rocket Age Lighting. I combine traditional hand tool methods of shaping wood with modern methods of vacuum pressing and lamination bending to create a unique style of functional art.

- I prefer American black walnut for its rich color and stunning contrast with the shoji paper that I use in my lamps. The textured shoji paper is specially coated to be tear resistant and surface washable, insuring longevity in each finished piece.
Lately though, as my work evolves, I've been using quite a bit of ash, dyed black and then top coated with a black polyurethane. The strong grain of the ash gives the pieces a wonderful texture and the black color works well with more modern designs.

Please note that ALL images sent to the website editor are vetted to assure a measure of overall quality control. Unlike other image sharing websites, crafthaus is not a "free-for-all".
