Recomendations?

I need a few existing SNAG members who know me and my studio to offer a recommendation for me to serve in SNAG. If you are willing please send me a message.  Thanks.

I think I need an Exorcist...

As a formerly trained artist/craftsman I sort of sold my soul to seek a living in the commercial realm of jewelry manufacturing- It is an awesome industry filled with talent, genius and a large number of dirt bags to say the least.

I feel blessed as I have always been allowed to express my opinions on purity in design, conceptual constructivism and "real" high craft craftsmanship.

Just the other day I engaged in a pretty benign conversation on another board focused on the… Continue

Where do I go from here.....

So When I was in college in the 80's I started this piece. It was my commentary on politics and nuclear proliferation. We where at odds with the soviets and there where enough missiles on the planet to destroy our orb of life a hundred times over-

Inspired by what I think was one of the best educators in the craft world at Buffalo State College- I sought to create a piece that was not only massive but had a sort of political tongue in cheek message. (Thanks Steve) I created an 8… Continue

Hi Paul,
You might find the company I work for very interesting. 3D stl direct into metal. Check out: . The standard print media is not the ideal material for skinware, but they are experimenting with a Palladium /Silver brew. Anyway, the company is in the "hood" and they are doing some amazing things for people with computer modeling skills. is the decorative arts unit.

Welcome to crafthaus, the network for artists, craftsmen/women ! I am very glad you joined us !

Please add your thoughts to the blogs and discussion forums that are already posted. Of course, if there is something else you'd much rather talk about, please add that to the site so that the rest of us can chime in.

I really hope you will enjoy being with this network and find the exchanges interesting and fun. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it, for sure.

Please note that crafthaus is a fully member-financed website, meaning that a small annual fee is involved in being a member . You will find all the necessary information on how to go about this in the FAQs section of the site. Your membership fee is due on or before September 15, 2009 and is payable through paypal (preferred,) US check or credit card.

Finally, if there are ever any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email me via crafthauseditor@live.com anytime. I will do my best to be of help.

Again: Welcome and enjoy !

A modern metalsmith/metal artist can be found working in traditional metals as well as in nontraditional materials. The designs can range from the classic to the extravagant, and the techniques can either be centuries old or decidedly current.

The wide range of expression preferences, design options, materials, and processes has lead within our field to unfavorable misconceptions, misunderstandings and in some cases even outright disdain between artists. Can the metal and jewelry field overcome its division and send out a much-needed signal?

We appreciate and respect our historical past and acknowledge that current materials have a rightful place in jewelry/object making!

Arriving at this message is the goal of this traveling exhibition opening at the SNAG conference in Boston 2015, Velvet da Vinci, San Francisco, CA - Aug 19 - Sept 20, 2015, Equinox Gallery, San Antonio, TX - Oct 16 - Nov 15, 2015, Baltimore Jewelry Center, Baltimore, MD - Dec 11, 2015 - Jan 08, 2016, Brooklyn Metal Works, Brooklyn, NY - Feb 5 - Mar 4, 2016.

DETAILS on exhibition premise, call for artists, submission guidelines.....

London and the South/Dundee and the North

Since my last post, I've been on the south coast of England, variously in London, Folkestone and Brighton.
