Art has a power, wonderful power.

As you all may know, we are in serious danger because of the big earthquake in Japan.

Fortunately, me, my families, and all my friends were totally fine,

but there are so many people lost their lives and are still missing.

Nuclear risk is the most serious problem at right this moment

It is time to travel to the most wonderful country... Turkey !

Turkey has been the place where I always want to go.

So finally, I get the chance to open the door.

The great thing is that I will have "two person show" with Umut Demirgüç and this is why I go.

Show is from Dec 5th till Dec 20th.

If you come to Istanbul, you have to come to this show to see us !

The another great thing is that we met in… Continue

After the show... still happy happy days.

It is really interesting how/where things are connecting. My two great friends who do not know each other told me about "Etsy" in the same day. SAME DAY. So I thought this was a sign... to get started.

http://www.tadashikoizumi.etsy.com/

I have been told about Etsy before, but I was not ready yet... Now... am I ready yet ? "I do not know ! How do I know !?"

This is like a marriage, I believe. Nobody knows when to be ready to get marry. When I get marry, that is… Continue

Happy Happy Days : First solo show at Japan !

Posted on March 28, 2009 at 9:47am 4 Comments

This is most luckiest and beautiful thing happening soon.
The gallery "Tsuibu" let me have two weeks solo show from April 7th ~ 19th.
The tricky part is that Tsuibu gallery is in Kyoto, Japan.

I know, I know.
It is only 14 hours by airplane from the U.S. Piece of cake to stop by, right?
I do want you to have a post card, so feel free to ask me to send you hundreds of postcards!

Me too! It makes me really happy to meet with the new and wonderful people that I do. For YEARS I was in a bit of a creative vacuum and I have no idea how I managed to keep going. Everyone on here and in Pennsylvania and NYC, and the people I've met in other parts of the world are just inspiring.

"Narrative can have a very wide definition.  I think my work is narrative in that I try to express some form of communication with my clay sculptures.  How can I get my work in the January show?Cheers, Tom www.tomsupensky.com"

A modern metalsmith/metal artist can be found working in traditional metals as well as in nontraditional materials. The designs can range from the classic to the extravagant, and the techniques can either be centuries old or decidedly current.

The wide range of expression preferences, design options, materials, and processes has lead within our field to unfavorable misconceptions, misunderstandings and in some cases even outright disdain between artists. Can the metal and jewelry field overcome its division and send out a much-needed signal?

We appreciate and respect our historical past and acknowledge that current materials have a rightful place in jewelry/object making!
