Hi Tamra!

Sorry for my super late response.. Grad school is great! It is nice to be super busy doing what I love! I am really excited to come back to Lillstreet this winter! How are things with you?

Thank you so much for your compliments of my work. I am hoping to make friends with artists working in all mediums. And to be a positive voice for my medium. I really appreciate having positive feedback for metal smiths, especially, because in general working in wire seems to be down graded amongst folks who fabricate and cast. I will eventually be doing everything, but it is a matter of time and money. No classes in my city. And, it will take a chunk of money I simply don't have to pay for classes, gas to drive an hour and a half round trip for the classes, and for materials.

So, for now, I do the highest quality work I can possibly do within the confines of the medium I can afford to work in. I am excited for the future though, because I know I will eventually get to do it. I am settling for reading, watching videos, and listening to podcasts about every aspect of working with metals, from sterling, to 18K, to platinum, and all the various alloys.

I understand about the choice. I had to choose between cello and bassoon when I went to college. It just wasn't practical to major in two instruments and try to do art history and ceramics. They ALL require so much time. Now, it is even more difficult because I work full time, in neither field. I am very committed to both music and my jewelry. I am passionate to learn and do as much as possible with metals and stones, and all other materials. I love jewelry so much. It is difficult when I really only have from 6pm to midnight or 1am and I have to choose. I have pretty much been letting the fact of how many commissions I have on the work table vs. what gigs do I have to prepare for and how involved are they determine how I spend my evenings. I am always playing catch up.

Hi, We jury online exhibitions for Crafthaus. Please look at our calls:

Earthly Pleasures http://crafthaus.ning.com/group/crafthausexhibition/forum/topics/open-call-earthly-pleasures

Me, Myself and I will be our 7th show http://crafthaus.ning.com/group/crafthausexhibition/forum/topics/open-callme-myself-and-i

Sitting Pretty Part 2 is how the show will look http://crafthaus.ning.com/group/sittingprettytheartsittingpretty

A show at Crafthaus has more of an audience then a gallery and offers a permanent stage to the world. We do love gallery shows, but at Crafthaus submission is easy, doesn't cost anything for members. In addition to our calls there are others you may be interested in.

We try to make the submission process as painless as possible! If you have any questions please let us know.
