Hi everyone! I am pleased to announce that I will be participating in the RAW-natural born artist art competition. I will be showcasing my jewelry at the Bassanova Ballroom in Portland, OR on May 24th. If I win in my category I will compete in the next judging to go to Hollywood! How exciting would that be! - When I was growing up my most memorable moments were spent with my grandparents at their cabin in Fish lake, Washington. I loved fattening up the squirrels with peanuts, taking walks down the gravel road, watching the humming birds, sitting on the deck and painting the glistening lake water, and of course spending time with my grandparents. Everything was so peaceful; the smell of a fresh rainfall, the sound of birds and wind in the trees, the beautiful flowers, even sitting in the boat waiting for the fish to bite. My jewelry is inspired by these special times in my life. Nature seems to be the one thing that calms me and reminds me of the happiest moments of my life so far. Most of my jewelry is designed from nature, even taking a natural object and transforming it into some kind of man made object. I have also taken the term “nature” and have used it in another meaning. The nature of human instincts for example; the way I naturally have a habit of picking at my own flesh when nervous or stressed. I also think about how human nature has changed since technology has evolved. At one time it was human nature to walk to your neighbors house to visit, then it became human nature to talk to them on the phone, and then it may have even evolved to writing an e-mail or sending a text message. These natural instincts are more apparent in my paintings; today it’s human nature to give your child an expensive piece of jewelry or a cell phone, it’s my natural instinct to act like a goofball or laugh at everything. My every day observations have made me compare nature of today to nature centuries ago. I will continue to observe and maybe even try to predict nature in the future.

I really hope you will enjoy being with this network, and will find the exchanges interesting and fun. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it, for sure.
Please note that crafthaus is both a fully edited and a member-financed website, meaning that a small annual fee ($20/yr or $35/2yrs) is involved in being a member here. You will find all the necessary information on how to go about this in the FAQs section of the site. Your membership fee is due on or before April 15, 2010 and is payable through paypal (preferred,) US check or credit card.
All images sent to the website will be reviewed to assure some measure of overall quality control. Crafthaus is not a "free-for-all". Members present their work in front of an educated and critical audience (their peers,) so the images have to be GREAT in both content and photo quality. From the many images received daily, we try to post as many as possible.
Crafthaus does not support any kind of commercial solicitation of our membership. Anyone sending out communication of that kind will be suspended from the site.
Finally, if there are ever any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email me via crafthauseditor@live.com anytime. I will do my best to be of help.

For the next 13 months we'll discuss the trials, triumphs, and tribulations of exhibiting in art shows as emerging artists and established artists. Exhibition coverage will be balanced with tips on how to strategically build a legacy over a length of time, in a way that makes sense to your individual goals as an artist and maker.
