Hull In A Handcart

Well, not quite, but I did have to travel on a bus - which is nearly a handcart - the trains being cancelled due to a landslip.

Hull is an odd place. For the place in the UK with the highest rates of unemployment and some of the lowest property prices, it feels like a prosperous city. As I normally say 'no' to Doris Day stereotypes, I apologise for the obvious title to this post!

It is, however, true. I have just arrived home from the thrilling three-day excursion to Chicago for SOFA 2012. It was brilliant, and not at all windy. I am still trying to process it all and the to get round to emailing all the people I need to talk to.…

How to Pay for SNAG?

As soon as one SNAG ends I start planning for the nest one. Well scheming is really what it should be called. The dealer's room invites you in and entices you to empty your wallet. The presentations and demos can spark a new facet of work that you didn't think you would be interested in exploring.… Continue

SNAG Toronto 1.0

Okay, I'm better organized now. I'm going to submit a series of blogs over the next few days on the SNAG show. They'll all tie together in the end. The first point for me to make is that Brigitte Martin is a real sweetheart! It was a treat to meet her and catch hold of some of her enthusiasm. If you get a chance to meet her I highly recommend it.Alright, here we go...I was born in Toronto and spent 14 of my first 21 years bere before I moved to New England. I've visited over the years while the…See More

290° - The first of the Scottish degree shows

It is that time of year again, when the degree shows in Scotland all kick off. As usual, the roll is started by Dundee's Duncan of Jordanstone College of  Art & Design - DJCAD for short. Regular readers of my blog will know that Dundee is my favourite Scottish city and has been for many, many years, so it is something of a surprise to realise that until last…See More
