the good life

I recently won People's Choice Best of Jewelry in the Millicent Rogers Museum annual "Miniatures" show here in Taos. My award is dinner for two at the Bavarian Lodge, which is an enchanted traditional Alpine restaurant and hotel deep in the high country at Taos Ski Valley (elevation, approximately 11,000 ft). Since the lodge is closed in the off season, I "must" wait till summer to take advantage of this special gift. What a pleasure that will be!

creativity and eccentricity

I recently had 2 major surgeries, the first in my life. The recovery time is much slower and more tedious than I expected. My major frustration is not being able to get back in the studio yet and make jewelry. So, to fill the hours, I've been reading.

A Lot.

I love to read, but really. Can we just go whack on some metal now?

new horizons

Every day is an opportunity to reinvent oneself. To me, this is a creative act, and one which requires a bit of courage. Pushing oneself out of the comfort zone can be hard work. Being creative every day can be hard work. There are days I'm intimidated by the self-appointed task of making a living through creativity. It can take a lot of energy, and at times, a little too much navel contemplation.
