The Cleveland Institute of Art has made a decision to merge the enameling program into the jewelry and metals department beginning fall 2010. Alumni and other supporters of enameling at CIA have been sending letters to Nancy Stuart, Provost, CIA to voice their opinion about this change to the curriculum. Two alum, Katy Bergman Cassell and Emily Bute have an electronic petition circulating with several hundred names and have a goal to add several hundred more. I just came back from participating in CraftBoston - although it was an incredibly beautiful show and an honor to be a part of it (www.craftboston.org) sales were very disappointing. I wanted to comment, though, that a customer had looked at my work on my crafthaus page and came to the show, specifically looking for me, and bought my "Encandas Brooch."
