Interdisciplinary. Community. Advocacy. Humor.
Catching up on the books and magazines that my work has been published in this year:
The coveted issue of metalsmith, which I tried for years to get into and here I am, the Second year in a row, this time within the curator's interview article (such a lovely surprise!). The theme was FRESH! and curated by Lola Brooks and Cindi Strauss. It's a very clean and attractive issue; the EIP's are getting better these last 2 years.
21st Century Jewelry: The Best of the 500 Series by Marthe Le Van, Lark Books
Such wonderful coffee table books, it's hard to believe that it's been 10 years since they started with the first 1000 rings book. I was honored to be a juror for this, as well as having my large yellow tire earrings selected, plus some of my quotes on images are printed.
Jewelry from Found Objects, by Heather Skowood, Stackpole books
Heather is a jeweler from Manchester, England who has been studying here in the US, and put together this wonderful book, with photography from a prominent artist in Manchester. I enjoy seeing the work that comes out of the UK, the artists really embrace alternative materials and edgy designs.
