2Roses Monday's Child - A Weekly Creative Shot in the Arm

Zoe Hillyard - Ceramic Patchwork, an Unexpected Reincarnation

Zoe Hillyard covers discarded broken ceramic pieces with fabric and reconstructs them into art that beautifully transforms its original medium. Her meticulous hand-stitching of the fabric covering adds an unexpected dimension to the all too familiar cracks and crazes of a mended ceramic shard.

It’s this presentation of the unexpected that attracted us to Hillyard’s work. Transformation, reincarnation, and repurposing are popular themes in art. However, few handle it with the beauty and grace that is from the hands of Zoe Hillyard. We’ve also included an “in progress” shot which candidly reveals much of Hillyard’s process.
