Susan Chin - Precious Ebony and Compositions in Black

Susan Chin’s path as a jeweler began with a handed down box of tools, bits of ebony and bone, and a class at the “Y” in Philadelphia. The magnetism of the ebony in her one-of-a-kind pieces is what first caught our eye. Whether it stands alone or is in the company of gold, bone or precious stones, the ebony almost sparkles like a jewel. The determination and drive to make this work come from deep within the soul. It’s a stunning example of how to handle a predominance of black (and/or white) in a composition.
