I understand that if you aren't in any books that this may seem like a great opportunity....but if a book has limited credibility, it seems like a poor investment.

Hi Alison,
I have been in the Michigan book and the National book. I realize that Kennedy is a small publishing operation that takes money for placement but it is fairly inexpensive marketing. I think of it as a co-operative venture, everyone pays to cover the costs. Small potatoes if you are already a published author but kind of a big deal if you are just beginning to get published. I don't regret that I have participated. It was fun seeing my work in the books. :)
Alison, IT is good you asked the question on Crafthaus. People will learn from your open inquiry.

In my humble opinion, don't pay to be in the book. The books are not that good. As far as I can tell they accept everyone that pays, rather than selecting work based on quality or themetic evaluation. The printing is not that good, nor the layout.
I am in a few of the books from years past, and didn't even buy the book.
While this evaluation is rather harsh, I am not talking about them behind their back.
I told them the same thing to their face (over the phone.)
