Call for Artists: ‘Suspend.ed in pink’

You are invited to participate in ‘Suspend.ed in pink’, a touring exhibition that seeks to explore the world of jewellery as it is NOW. With a focus on concept driven jewellery, also known as art or research jewellery, this call out is looking for wearable pieces that contain the colour PINK.

The result will be a juxtaposition of jewellers, themes and styles, all suspended from the gallery’s ceiling, which will invite the viewer to engage and interact with the work.

Submission Deadline:
Submissions for initial selection must be received by SEPT. 21, 2012, electronically to suspendedinpink@gmail.com

Entry criteria:
Free choice of media/materials/size.
Any materials or scale accepted.
Work created in the past 2 years.
Only unseen pieces can be submitted.

Application Requirements:
Current resume (CV), exhibitions, publication information
Artist statement relating to the work submitted (300 words max.)
Up to 4 pieces can be submitted for consideration, 7 photos max. (incl. detail shots) in high resolution, Jpg file, 300dpi, 20x15 cm/11x6 in.
Pure white background (images must be fit for printing)
Each image must be accompanied by the following information: Name and address of artist, title of work, dimensions, year created, materials.

Submission fee:
25 Euro payable by SEPT. 21, 2012 via paypal to: suspendedinpink@gmail.com

Upon acceptance:
For selected artists an additional participation fee of Euro 25 is due at the time of acceptance to cover catalogue expenses. The artist is responsible for the cost of initial delivery and return of work.

Shipping address and timelines:
This information will be given to the selected artists upon acceptance and after all payments have been received. Selected artists should be prepared to ship work to England so that it arrives on or before OCT. 21, 2012. The organisers do not assume any liability of the work during transport.
Your work will be held for up to one year as part of the touring exhibition.

Insurance and Liability:
All entries are to be insured by the artists. Participants who apply for the exhibition can only be accepted under the conditions that they are liable for the loss, theft or damage to his/her goods during transport and during the period up to the exhibitions at the various locations. The artwork is insured as soon as it reaches the gallery premises.

Sale agreement:
Please include a retail price in Euros, if your work is for sale. If sold a 10% sales commission will be deducted from the total price. Payments will be sent at the end of the show by paypal or bank transfer.

Exhibition dates/Information:
The Atrium Gallery, The School of Jewellery, Birmingham University. England. 7th-28th January 2013.
Studio Gabi Green, Munich, Germany. As part of Schmuck 2013 from 7th - 11th March 2013.
Further venues to be confirmed, exhibitors will be notified as these are secured.
