PARTICIPATORY SPORT FOR CRAFT ARTISTS
![]() |
Each year Haystack hosts a four-day Summer Conference. The format of Haystack’s Summer Conference differs from that of many conferences—it is intimate in scale and allows for ample time for informal discussions with presenters. It also features a studio component, with hands-on workshops providing another way to explore the conference theme.
Conference presenters each gave a talk and workshops, discussion groups, and group activities--a studio workshop component provides a hands-on way to explore the conference theme--were also a part of the conference format.
Conference attendees registered for studio based activities and discussion groups through daily sign-ups.
In a variety of creative disciplines, from the arts to the sciences, makers, researchers, and thinkers are increasingly working in ways that are interdisciplinary and/or collaborative. This summer’s conference brings together presenters from a wide range of fields to examine the impact and potential of these ways of working.

For the next 13 months we'll discuss the trials, triumphs, and tribulations of exhibiting in art shows as emerging artists and established artists. Exhibition coverage will be balanced with tips on how to strategically build a legacy over a length of time, in a way that makes sense to your individual goals as an artist and maker.
Join us each month! There will be surprises around every corner, with photos, videos, SNAG conference coverage, and occasional interviews by rising artists!
