Desolate!

End of another academic year, I've cleared my bench of everything to allow the summer-school lecturer to use it. As some of you already know, I am off to PITTSBURGH next week and will be at the SCC for a short while. I'm always keen to meet other metalsmiths: feel free to get in touch if you are able to meet up!

Sean, I've no fixed plans for any week-day evenings, so once the classes are over, I'm free. Let me know when would suit you best.

Dauvit, I'd love to try to meet up for dinner again.  I could come down any week-day evening.  Unfortunately, I already have plans for both weekends.  Let me know what your schedule is.

Unfortunately, Dingo won't be threre, for all sorts of reasons.  I'll explain when I see you.

No, I am out of town on the 13th already, unfortunately. But you know the drill... Is your significant other with you ?

Brigitte, I am not renting a car but there is a bike rental place at the bottom of the hill where I'm staying, so I may get a bike!

I think I'll be pretty tired after the reception, but if there were no other time to do it, then I'm sure I could find the energy from somewhere.

I've posted a lot of the stuff to the SCC already. My errands run to a bottle of acetone, some table salt and a couple of other things which are easily found at a supermarket or drugstore (see, I learned some US Language last year!).

Looking forward to seeing you. Will you be about for the Crawl on the 13th?

I can't believe it's been a year already since you were here :-)

I will try and come to the artist reception on Saturday. Would you want to get together with some of the guys afterwards that day? I assume you'll be pretty much jet lagged ... The following week I won't be around much and will be out of town the weekend afterwards but I'll help organize whatever works best for your schedule.
Will you be renting a car? Will someone from the SCC help you with your errands for teaching?

Brigitte! I arrive on Friday next week and immediately have to go and buy some supplies for the class on Saturday. I'll be in Pittsburgh from 6th - 18th July. I believe there is an art crawl during this period too! Would be lovely to meet up with others again.

Interviewing NCECA 2013 Emerging Artist Linda Swanson

NCECA 2013 Emerging Artist Linda Swanson makes us think about ceramic materials in a new and dynamic way.  Her installation, site specific, fired and unfired work all has an emphasis on time, material and transformation.  Linda generously shared her time and thoughts with me about her current studio practice and the path that has led her there.  I hope you enjoy this interview with Linda Swanson.  You can see more of her work at: …See More
