Exhibition in Minneapolis: Book Pages Grown from Bacteria


Artist Eric Gjerde, Minneapolis, MN: My year-long Jerome Foundation fellowship grant is coming to an end, and there is a show at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts ( http://www.mnbookarts.org/fellowshipxiii/ ) on the evening of November 11th to show it off. It's a group show of the three local artists who were awarded the book arts grant; all very different types of projects.
My particular installation is a series of book pages that are grown from a special kind of bacteria - so they were actual living pages - which is a new papermaking process I have been working on for the last 7 years or so. Nothing like it has been done before so it is very interesting to see, or at least I like to think so!

I'm attaching several images I snapped in the press room the other day of some in-process work to whet your appetite (or scare you away - hard to say, really.) The show itself is up until February 19th so if you feel like checking it out later, it's up at MCBA until that time.
