New Jersey. January 16,2012- Glen G. Guarino will show "Simplicity" in Art Connections 8 at George Segal Gallery.  This well-known gallery is on the campus of Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey.  Now in its eighth year, the exhibit features works by local, regional and nationally acclaimed artists.  The show will be open from January 18 through February 19, 2012. The Artist Reception is Sunday, January 22 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.  For directions please visit http://www.montclair.edu/welcome/directions.html

Glen Guarino designed "Simplicity" to use a single board of American Black Cherry. In this board were several areas with burr sections that he chose to cut out, slice and then book match producing a pleasant focal point highlighting the beauty of the wood.  As with many of his pieces, Guarino chose to do a clear hand rubbed finish to allow the beauty of the wood to take center stage.

SNAG Toronto part 3

I come from a very different background than most at the conference. I apprenticed with a self taught flutemaker. After 3 years, the only CV I left with was a flute I made that got me hired by a Boston company. I designed my own flute from experience and imagination. To this day my work has always been my only resume. At the SNAG conference almost everyone had a college degree in the arts. Whenever a speaker was introduced, their education highlights were listed along with the schools they were…See More
