The recent Professional Development Seminar offered an informative program titled "Photography in Flux." One of the pressing issues in art and craft photo is the growing popularity of the stark white background, often with a stylized shadow near the work.
As part of the Professional Development Seminar, Photographer Christopher Conradprepared a Step-by-Step HANDOUT and PowerPoint for "How to Build a Better Drop Shadow" in Photoshop. Now both of these are available on line for you to download and practice.
Both the PowerPoint and the Handout are step-by-step color images of this process in Photoshop. There is no complicated text, but beautiful didactic images so that you can do this yourself to improve the photographic images of your work with a soft and subtle shadow.
Find the Handout from the Professional Development Seminar How to Build a Better Drop Shadow - A Photoshop Tutorial by Christo... on my website. It will also be posted on the SNAG web site soon.
There is also a Step-by-Step Photoshop Tutorial as a PowerPoint titled, "How to Build a Better Shadow - A Photoshop Tutorial by Christopher Conrad from the SNAG Professional Development SEminar.
I can't make this Slideshare PowerPoint function on Crafthaus but you can find it with a CLICK on ASK Harriete OR the Professional Development Seminar page on my web site.
The issues surrounding the white background for art and craft photography was discussed extensively on ASK Harriete several months ago. You can find the posts about shadows below. Your comments are welcome either on this post or the previous posts. Your experience and opinions can help other artists.
