The MAKESHOP™ at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh is a hands-on workshop for children and families to explore materials, learn new skills, and play with ideas. We offer a variety of experiences including sewing, woodworking, electronics, technology, media and more!
We are currently seeking interns for Fall 2012 to join our team and serve as apprentices to our staff. This exciting internship opportunity is flexible and open ended. We work around your schedule and adapt the program to fit your needs. We have a full staff of Teaching Artists and education professionals to work with you as you develop skills and pursue your goals.
Our interns will have many opportunities, including:
• Collaborating with our skilled Teaching Artists to develop and facilitate activities
• Learning new skills in a variety of trades
• Understanding how to provide authentic making experiences for children and families
• Becoming a part of a talented staff of museum professionals including exhibit designers and educators
• Making an impact on our museum, our visitors and your future!
Ideal candidates are students or early career individuals with an interest in DIY/making and a desire to work with children and families. All majors and backgrounds are welcome. This is an unpaid internship (academic credit may be awarded) with flexible hours that may include weekend days. Child abuse clearances are required.
