Job Opening: Director of Design @ MASS MoCa!
MASS MoCA's Director of Design works closely with museum staff and visiting artists to manage all aspects of MM's brand including catalogues, merchandise, wayfinding, website, exhibition collateral (including vinyl), live events, and development.
The ideal candidate must match a high standard of design with pragmatic know-how and the ability to triage and work efficiently. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and ability to negotiate skillfully with vendors to ensure best possible pricing are crucial. Successful candidate will enjoy a hands-on approach to completing projects in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must maintain a consistent level of quality and foster professional development for small design team including initiating critiques of MASS MoCA design work to drive successful design systems. Maintaining a consistent level of quality and fostering ongoing professional development for team members are also part of the position.
Requirements:
8+ years experience preferably with degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field and management experience.
Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, knowledge of HTML/CSS a major plus.
Proven success in developing effective design campaigns over a wide array of platforms
Strong leadership skills and ability to work closely with an engaged curatorial, marketing and administrative staff.
