Residency Opportunity Brockway Center for Arts and Technology

We have one opening to start on January 5th, 2016, then another in fall of 2016. 
Brockway Center for Arts and Technology’s Resident Artist Program is for developing and established professional ceramic artists.

Residencies last a minimum of six months and a maximum of one year. BCAT provides shared housing and 24-hour studio access to artists in exchange for 25 hours of work each week assisting BCAT's Youth and Arts programs. Work will include teaching and mentoring high-school students, as well as studio maintenance.
 

Resident Artists are also given a solo exhibition in BCAT’s gallery.
Artist must have completed their MFA and or equivalent life experience to apply.
There is NO FEE to apply to BCAT’s Resident Artist Program.
You can apply to BCAT’s Resident Artist Program at any time.
BCAT will accept 2-4 Resident Artists each year (Duration: minimum of 6 months’
maximum of 1 year).

Housing: shared 2-bedroom apartment located in the same building as the center that includes all utilities, laundry, free wi-fi, and access to the building’s gym.

The ceramic studio is well equipped- fully stocked glaze lab, 14 Brent CXC potter's wheels, 1 16 cu. ft electric kiln, 40 cu. ft downdraft car kiln, 1 test kiln, slab roller, pug mill, spray booth, clay extruder, clay mixer, large working tables, and a shared private working/storage space for residents.

Resident artists are given full access to all materials and equipment as well as private storage space within the studio. The resident artists responsible for their own food and personal expenses. Resident artist will be given exhibition opportunities during their residency. Paid teaching opportunities may also be available for resident artists. All of this is available in exchange of 25 hours each week assisting with teaching of the Youth & Arts programming and general studio maintenance. An average work week breakdown of the 25 hours: 17 teaching (12 hours with the after-school program, 5 hours working in a nearby high school on a special project, and 8 hours to studio tech/maintenance.

Accepted Resident Artists must obtain ALL THREE of the following clearances at least 30 days prior to starting his/her residency at BCAT.

Child Abuse Clearance Act 151
Criminal Background check by PA State Police Act 34
FBI Fingerprint Clearance Act 114
