Outrageous. I will bring the book with me to the MAG summer picnic (in San Francisco) this August, so people can see for themselves.

I was just going through the "best of" book and now I see that it is only Artists with last names A through J! I cant' believe it's not all of the artists, this is unbelievable. Wow, that's ODD!

Yes, I agree. Interestingly, there are many well known jewelers who made the decision I did to be in the book. ...funny thing.

Thank you Brigitte, for providing this forum. It's nice to know that people are out there to bounce ideas and problems off of. I talk to many artists one on one but here, I believe, we reach a larger scope.

Alison, I am sorry to hear that this was a less than stellar experience for you, but thank you for sharing it regardless. It is of great help to us to know about this!

I second your comments regarding Schiffer. I am currently working with them and can only say the best. They seem to be genuinely interested in a good relationship with their authors. I am not done with the book process completely as of yet, but so far so good.

So sorry to hear this....but so often we learn the hard way.

I think that you willingness to ask the question and raise the issues you have experienced openly is really important. Others can learn from your mistakes.

Ok, I got the book today...my lovely postal carrier made sure to shove it into the mailbox instead of leaving it out, so it is currently under a pile of books getting flat. Oh, it's soft cover (for $40 with discount!) and while the images look fine it is not the best that I have seen, the pages seem thin and I thought it would be a hardcover. All in all, an entire pain in the neck. After I paid on May 1st I had to get on them to ship the book which I finally got today--but they didn't spare any…
Ok, I got the book today...my lovely postal carrier made sure to shove it into the mailbox instead of leaving it out, so it is currently under a pile of books getting flat. Oh, it's soft cover (for $40 with discount!) and while the images look fine it is not the best that I have seen, the pages seem thin and I thought it would be a hardcover. All in all, an entire pain in the neck. After I paid on May 1st I had to get on them to ship the book which I finally got today--but they didn't spare any time charging my credit card. Sometimes we learn and this was a cheap mistake...and not too bad. I'm so glad that I did not agree to be in the worldwide jewelry book that they are publishing...I'm done. Next up, Schiffer Publishing due to be released this fall, Art Jewelry Today 3. So far a pleasure to deal with and their past publications are very slick. Lesson: if an interaction begins as a pain in the A, and continues as such, then don't waste time on it and move on. Good point Alison.

I wonder, where can one find the book. Lark books are available in bookstores...but what about this? I'm not interested in seeing myself in a book, but I'd like to get my name and images out there in a credible way. They had asked me to be in the next book...I think it was best of america or international something but I declined because with the best of jewelry book I had to re-send my images many times and it ended up taking more time that I had planned on investing. They had asked me to be in the next book...I think it was best of america or international something but I declined because with the best of jewelry book I had to re-send my images many times and it ended up taking more time that I had planned on investing. The Lark book that I was in was very easy regarding the entire process. Also, the Kennedy publishing book had a fee and then you had to buy the book (at a discount), where the lark book had no fee and they sent you the book. A schiffer book that I am due to be in had no fee but you have to buy the book (at a discount) if you wish to have it. The bottom line is, who sees it besides me?
