oh~~! Kate! how are you?
i am enjoying your space a lot. i sometimes sleep on the sofa.
my show is the first one. 8th~!!
it is really nice to see you here~~
hi kate! this is eve, my mom was showing me this website and i am so glad you found her on here. just wanted to say hi to you myself, hope all is well!
hi kate! how nice of you to visit my page - eve says she had a great time with you the weekend you stayed with them in chicago. good to see more of your work - saw the piece in the new 500 enameled objects book (i have a piece in, too). i've always loved enamel and am intending to spend more time working with it again. the color and texture can be so rich and expressive. sounds like molly is loving korea!
J's oyster bar is a real period piece. Yeah I did go there for two years and I left in after my Sophomore year and transferred to Portland school of art now MECA. I loved Parsons but I fried my brain by trying to double major and I had this boyfriend who was unraveling in the city. At the time it seemed very important that I leave. Tim McCreight was still at MECA then and he was like the father everyone wished they had-but I do wish I had stuck around long enough to work with Lisa.
Ahh the eastern prom...your right the winter is fun there.
I had a feeling you went to New Paltz. I applied there right after undergrad and didnt make it and I just kind of shelved the whole plan... but your right its never too late.
So hey, thanks for chatting and check out the Porthole if its still open!
ps.(this may mean nothing but if you know Lauren Fensterstock we did our foundation year together in 93)
I just moved to St Louis from NY- for my husband's job.
I lived in Portland as a young kid and again for high school.
The town is loaded with amazing jewelers and is an artist haven.
Im sure you knew that already though..
So where did you do your MFA? I feel like such a turd for never getting around to that.
And hang in there- the winter is long but you wont wonder why they call it vacationland in a few months!

NCECA 2013 Emerging Artist Linda Swanson makes us think about ceramic materials in a new and dynamic way. Her installation, site specific, fired and unfired work all has an emphasis on time, material and transformation. Linda generously shared her time and thoughts with me about her current studio practice and the path that has led her there. I hope you enjoy this interview with Linda Swanson.
