At 1:44pm on April 3, 2009, Lilyana Bekic said…: I received my MFA in 2008 form SDSU and my thesis show was in fall 2007. It is a rigorous program. Sondra Sherman and Helen Shirk are the two professors for the area. They are both very different which makes it a great combination. The faculty in the metals program and art department are a great group of mentors. The school encourages interdisciplinary work which is how i got into mixing fibers with metals in my thesis. I would say that conceptual work rather than design is the current focus of department. The grad studio accommodates 8 students. I suggest you make a visit to the school to see the facilities and get a feel for the school.
