The world-renowned School of Jewellery at Birmingham City University is situated in Birmingham’s acclaimed Jewellery Quarter. For 126 years we have been producing highly skilled artists with significant regional, national and international profile. With new courses, a new partnership with the city’s Assay Office, and an ever-growing international presence, we now seek a Head of School to begin the School’s next phase of development.

We are looking for a natural and proven leader in pedagogy, enterprise and/or research. The person we appoint will have a strong commitment to the community of the School, with a strong focus on the student experience and an understanding both of industry needs and of recruitment opportunities in the UK and around the world. We welcome applications from a variety of professional backgrounds. However, our new Head must have substantial knowledge of key aspects of the jewellery business. 

Key skills areas include:

•             Experience in managing budgets and general financial management

•             Experience of working on a senior management team

•             Ability to adopt a collaborative approach in achieving impactful leadership

•             Ability to work creatively on interdisciplinary projects with the other schools of the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media.
