Orawee Choedamphai - welcome to the fourth-dimension

Orawee Choedamphai deals with the concept of the space “between.” Her woven sculptures are created to be viewed from all angles - both inside and out, front and back. Choedamphai pulls from traditional craft skills (basket weaving and knotting) to create work that adds a sense of femininity to their interior architectural display environments. There’s also a sense of modularity with her work, giving the flexibility of investigating the possibilities of interchangeable components.

Most of her materials stem from industrial origins. Cable ties, plastic coated commercial wire and legos find their way into Choedamphai ’s sculptural forms. The work demonstrates excellent use of simple color and form that is combined to make complex compositions.
