2Roses Monday’s Child - A Weekly Creative Shot in the Arm

Kristin LeVier hand carves and bends wood into wonderfully engaging functional and decorative forms. LeVier’s talent with carving gives a graceful life to her pieces and her coloring technique brings out the best qualities of the natural wood. It’s one thing to expertly carve. It’s another altogether to breathe life into your medium.

We’ve included an image of the artist in the process of carving one of her pieces. It nicely bridges the connection with the mind, the soul, and the hands.

Certainly one of the most interesting wood sculpture currently made. I enjoy the emotional charge one gets when seeing the work. I was a juror last year for the LEAP award, and gave her one of the awards the Society of Contemporary Craft bestows. The work is outstanding in every way.

Thanks for reminding me, 2Roses.
