It is a new and growing program, but it is the only school in LA or Orange county CA that has a metals MFA. Can you believe that? Furthermore, the last grad to go through the program before me finished in 2003. We now have 5 grads working toward a metals degree. We have great facilities with traditional metals, foundry, and blacksmithing areas all under the metals program. Most of our seminar classes are interdisciplinary or with sculpture students leading to a higher level of conceptual content than pure beauty / adornment in our work. Between CSULB and Long Beach City College, we produce a good number of BFA and AA students that move on to other cities. It is a shame that we did not get to meet in Philly. I am interested in learning more about your work and your underlying concepts. Do you do any writing?
