Artist Statement: We have a long-standing love affair with ancient maps and navigation devices.In many cultures, these tools also functioned as ornament or were worn about the body for talismanic or security purposes. This tradition continues to this day in the most advanced civilizations with personal GPS devices worn as a symbol of status and function.

Artist Statement: One of my endeavours to use geometrical shapes to make a sort of portrait. The zinc is 20 year of age and comes from Paris rooftops.

Artist Statement: Frances Solar is a Canadian artist who combines traditional textile techniques with unconventional materials-i.e. wire, metals, bike gears and electrical scrap to create wall hung Scarpyard Quilts. She is intrigued with using these 'masculine' materials to produce art with a feminine/domestic dynamic.

Artist Statement: Decoration of Sitting becomes a piece of art hung on the wall when not in use.Users can line the slots in different levels to adjust height,depth and angles of the chair. The chair becomes a puzzle for kids who simply love to create different sitting patterns.

Artist Statement: Some artists see an image in the wood and release it; others have an idea and mold the wood to become the piece.An artist may search for months for the perfect wood, yet other artists methodically plan, draw and calculate every piece. I am no less eccentric.

Artist Statement: Plywood Pegboard is part of a larger installation including a 908 piece block set. Viewers are asked to interact with the pegboard using the plywood tools as props for play with the wood block set.

Artist Statement: The "waves" in Beach Stones are wood mosaics of natural poplar with blue acrylic paint glazes;edges are hand-sanded after painting and shaping. The "beach stones" are hand-shaped pieces of natural wood.

About the Curators: Glen G. Guarino, Guarino Furniture Designs holds a MA in Studio Furniture. He taught on the high school level for 32 years and has been an adjunct professor in the Fine Arts School of William Paterson University since 2001. His art has been juried into museum and gallery exhibits. Glen also designs furniture for corporate and private clients. His furniture has been featured on "State of the Arts," and in a number of publications. Glen is a Signature Artist at Noyes Museum of Art. Marie works with Glen as his publicist.

So glad to be sharing a global gallery with such an impressive array of artists. Great inspirations, opportunities, and challenges await!

Thanks Glen and Marie for selecting a topic that people can interpret its meaning in what ever form fancies them. A bit like the "Sun" magazine topics that can vary in degrees of perspectives.
