Hand-fabricated copper tubing, liver of sulfur

As a former competitive gymnast, I have cultivated an attentive bodily awareness, a rigorous discipline of practice, and mindfulness of the balance between endurance and grace. This series tends to be informed by these habits and impressions, engaging the body and body-space from both an internal (conscious) and an external (physical) conceptual formulation. To say that this work is 'bound to the body' however is a misnomer, for the thematic underpinnings that constitute my endeavors speak to issues that are essential: mortality, frailty, strength, being, embodiment. Meaning arises through my process-driven approach, moving from the particular to the universal.
