The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Will Odell now has a brand new e-commerce site.
As you  all know we  launched our new website in September.
To celebrate this we asked people to give some feedback, and we would then pick out a name from these people to win a silver bangle or a pair of cufflinks.
We would like to congratulate Lindsay Hall the lucky winner.
Thank you to everyone who spent the time looking through the site and giving us feedback.
We really appreciate all your thoughts.

Exclusive October reader offer!
25% off our European jewellery ranges

Usually we celebrate and promote mainly our British designer-makers at Jam, but this month we’re shining the spotlight on four of our European jewellers. Established German designers Manu, Quinn and Triangel and Polish designers, Deco Echo.

Each has their own particular contemporary style, but collectively, they reflect the European style of jewellery. Pieces are more about making a statement; designs are stronger and sometimes more architectural.

As a Jam newsletter subscriber, we’re exclusively offering you 25% off our European jewellery collections, by these four designer makers.

Simply complete the payment details with code Euro14 by midnight Friday 31 October online, or print and bring a copy of this newsletter into Jam by close of business the same day. Offer applies to items in stock only.

A programme of support from the Crafts Council for emerging makers.

Are you looking for support and advice, tailor-made for your contemporary craft practice?

Have you set up your craft business within the last 3 years?

Are you looking to develop a strong foundation and peer-group to help you make the best start?

Applications for Hothouse 5 go live on the 15th September 2014. Deadline 20th October 2014.

Hothouse 5 is a national programme taking place in four areas across England and Scotland. The programme will run from February to July 2015.

The areas are:
Scotland
Northern England
South East England
South West England

You don’t have to be based in any of the areas to apply but must be able to travel to take part if selected. All of the cohorts are open to makers practicing in any craft discipline.

What is it?
Hothouse provides emerging makers with a programme of focussed, intensive business skills and creative development, complemented with 1:1 support over a six month period.

In 2015 there are 46 places available for new makers across the UK, the programme is delivered in regional cohorts and so makers are part of a valuable peer group and a wide national network at the same time.

The programme is delivered in partnership with professional development and craft organisations across the country making it a tailor-made programme for contemporary craft makers. Hothouse participants get to meet lots of other national organisations and regional organisations and our partners get to see up and coming talent and help them realise their potential.

Our partners include universities, colleges, makers’ networks, galleries and retailers, studio complexes, Guilds & Societies, cultural institutions and professional development agencies.

Hothouse has a core programme of workshop sessions delivered over a six month period led by expert trainers and experienced practicing makers. The programme comprises: group sessions on developing business skills, market knowledge and creativity; networking events which bring participants together as a national group; support from a peer buddy from a past cohort; 1:1 sessions with a specialist mentor from the sector.

Who is it for?

Hothouse is open to any discipline; based in any region and from any educational background or training, both formal or informal. There is no age limit.

How much does it cost?

Applicants pay a one off application fee of £50. The programme itself is free but participants must pay their own travel and subsistence when attending programme session days and any other expenses incurred.

How can I find out more?
