Crafthaus Project Grant 2014

Information

Crafthaus Project Grant 2014

Every other year, crafthaus awards a micro project grant to a crafthaus member regardless of their location, professional background, or chosen craft field. The grant is unrestricted and intended to provide assistance for an interesting new personal or group project.

Since 2011, crafthaus members supported diverse projects such as a women-led craft cooperative in Southeastern Turkey and an international group exhibition for artists with invisible disabilities.

All projects proposals are published on crafthaus without revealing personal information about the submitting party (no names, bios, credentials.) Every project is presented on its own merit. The public is invited to vote on the best idea. Students, established artists, academics, outsiders - every project is considered equally.

The crafthaus membership and the general public review all proposed projects and vote for the one they wish to see supported.

The grant recipient regularly updates on the project progress on crafthaus via a public blog. The membership and the general public are invited to follow the project from beginning to end, ask questions, and discuss the project directly with the artist/artist group during the implementation phase.

Only crafthaus members can submit a project.

Public voting.

Crafthaus is happy to announce that Leisa Rich's project "Invisible:VisAble" garnered 968 votes of 2,575 total votes cast (37.59%) and is the 2014 Crafthaus Project Grant Winner.

The immediate runner up, Project #2: Prison Polymer: Art as a Lifeline Back to the Community received a respectable 790 votes (30.68%) of overall votes cast.

Leisa Rich's project has already received the funds from crafthaus in order to help with the project cost from the earliest stage possible. Starting in November, we all look forward to following Leisa's crafthaus blog about her project. Much success!
