At the Bench http://www.atthebench.com/subscribe/
Andrew is off filming for a few days this week. He is filming one of UK's best loved precious metal recycling companies. Still a bit hush hush at the moment but an interested collection of films will be going live next year showing the process of precious metal reclamation.

Regulars to At The Bench will remember the live webcasts we broadcast once a month. We we are starting them back up in the New Year. We will be going over the basics again, this being how to choose the right piercing saw and how to pierce. Soldering and the various techniques involved and many more. What we are asking of you is to ask us questions that we can answer live on air. Anything you want as long as it's jewellery related. Just email us andrew@atthebench.com with your questions. Perhaps you have a problem with soldering fine wire. Is a pendant motor worth its money? What burrs and polishing mops do I need? I have trouble getting a successful casting using Delft Clay.

Email us anything you want because if you have a question I bet somone else has exactly the same question too but is afraid to ask. So ask away even if it sounds trivial.....we want to help you in a way that no book or magazine can. You will be able to watch Andrew, live and ask questions dusing the Webcasts too.

And best of all, all of our Webcast are totally FREE so look out on Twitter and Facebook in the New Year for details and encourage your friends to watch too. You don't even have to be a members of At The Bench, so spread the word. There will be FREE giveaways too, At The Bench aprons, mugs, books.......

Have a great weekend everyone.

Dear artist, designer, maker,

We’re pleased to see that you expressed an interest in the opportunity to exhibit at COLLECT Open through our newsletter; and as such I wanted to get in touch with a reminder of the deadline in case you decide that this opportunity is something you would like to apply for.

Below you can see a few testimonials from previous exhibitors:

‘Taking part in last year's edition of COLLECT Project Space (COLLECT Open), was an exciting opportunity, a rewarding professional achievement and a stimulus to further develop my practice-led research. The impressive venue together with Crafts Council's curatorial effort made for an exceptional setting to present new body of work to a diverse and engaged audience.’ Designer-maker Giovanni Marmont

'Collect was an opportunity to show a large body of work in a London Gallery. Many people saw the show including other makers, gallery directors and potential buyers and I am still having conversations months later about the work. Although I did not have any direct sales or immediate commissions I have had two further solo shows from galleries who knew my work and this exhibition spurred them on to book my work at their venues in 2015 and 2016. I am also negotiating a potential sale of a large piece that may go to Moscow this autumn.’ Mosaic artist Cleo Mussi

'The honour to be showings work in such a great venue and a great organisation was too good to not try to be part of and so once accepted, I embraced the opportunity with gusto! Taking part with a group of diverse artists attracted a wonderful array of visitors. It is challenging to be 'on the ball' everyday but I truly can say that taking part in every opportunity offered I got to experience so many wonderful times that have kept me motivated in the following months. Also the offers of future opportunities are still coming in.’ Contemporary tapestry artist Jilly Edwards
In terms of practicalities, the deadline for applications is approaching - 21November, 5pm - all application material and background information (including information on fees and logistics for exhibitors) is available to download from our website.

We look forward to receiving any pending applications and in the meantime should you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

With best regards
Julia

The competition has two categories: Jewelry and Objects. All entries must be originally created by the entrant, and metallic material should be the core of the entries. The competition results will be published in an electronic book, while the prize winning artworks will be exhibited in the Exhibition of “2015 Taiwan International Metal Craft Competition.”
