The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Build Your Own: Tools for sharing
http://www.craftscouncil.org.uk/what-we-do/build-your-own?utm_sourc...
A FACT and Crafts Council partnership exhibition in association with Norfolk Museums Service

Build Your Own will explore how digital technologies come together with traditional processes of production to create new ways of working, sharing and collaborating.

New times call for new skills - but the old ones have an important role too. This exhibition will explore what the democratisation of tools really means, whom the emergence of new technologies will affect, and how they connect to traditional craft skills.

Build Your Own will feature four newly commissioned projects by Will Shannon and Assemble, Linda Brothwell, Rachel Rayns and Raspberry Pi and DoES Liverpool and e-NABLE, alongside a series of creative interventions across Liverpool and Norwich, and an inclusive public programme.

Build Your Own: Tools for Sharing launches at FACT from 4 June to 31 August before touring to Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery from 3 October 2015 to 3 January 2016.

Resident Design Assistant

The Donmar Warehouse Theatre is delighted to invite applications for the position of Resident Design Assistant

Application deadline: May 22nd 2015

Description: In March we were awarded a grant for this post as part of the Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries Programme

The programme is intended to create opportunities for talented graduates to start their careers in the arts. Forty organisations across the UK will be offering positions aimed specifically at recent arts graduates whose circumstances mean they would not otherwise be in a position to develop their skills and CV through unpaid work experience.

This is a 12 month position aimed at recent theatre design graduates (2013, 2014 & 2015). During their time with us the 'Resident Design Assistant' will work with a wide range of world-class creatives, helping to create work for the Donmar stage as well as one-off events, West End transfers and tours.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to:

  • work directly with world-class theatre designers on main stage Donmar productions.
  • fully immerse themselves in all the processes required to get a play from first discussions between the director and designer to a fully realised production.
  • to develop their skills and confidence and to create a network of contacts within the theatre industry.

The post is offered as part of the Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries Programme, aimed specifically at recent arts graduates whose circumstances mean they would not otherwise be in a position to develop their skills and CV through unpaid work experience.

In order to be eligible applicants must:

  • Have graduated from an undergraduate course in the UK since summer 2013 or be about to graduate in June 2015 (i.e. a BA or an NVQ 6, or MA if from a Scottish university).
  • Have received a full maintenance grant during the full period of their academic course and be able to verify this with the necessary paperwork .
  • Achieved a 2:2 degree or above (predicted results will be acceptable for 2015 graduates)
  • be full-time resident in the UK

To Apply: For the job description, application form and the Eligibility FAQ’s please see our website

Deadline for Applications: 5pm Friday 22nd May
