Due to two unexpected cancellations we now have spaces available at our next Desire Jewellery and Silversmithing Fair taking place at The Guildhall, Winchester.  This well-known period building is situated at the end of the high street making the venue very accessible from the town centre car parks.  The show is open from 11-13 November with set up on the morning of Friday 11 November and opening to the public at 12.30pm.

If you are interested in being considered for one of these spaces, please get in touch with us by e-mail to receive further details.

Applications are welcome from jewellers working in any media and from silversmiths.
We look forward to hearing from you.

Lisa Rothwell-Young
Jewellery Showcase

Lisa's lichen collection mimics the growth patterns created by lichen on stone. Pieces are acid etched with subtle differences in colour created by depleting the silver, oxidation and the application of keum bo in 23.5ct gold. Precious and semi precious faceted gemstones are also set within some pieces.

Mid-Career Grant Details
The $20K cash grant will be awarded to an artist between 35 and 55 years old at the time of the proposal deadline who is making an active contribution to the art jewelry world. It will be funded over two years. The first grant will be awarded in 2017 and will alternate yearly with the ongoing AJF Artist Award, which recognizes early career artists.

Beech's hope is that the grant will allow the artist who receives it to realize a dream project he or she may not otherwise be able to create. That project could be a new body of work, a book or catalog, performance art involving jewelry, research and development in the medium, or another related undertaking.
In addition to passionate collector Beech, the other jurors for this inaugural grant cycle include artist and academic Iris Eichenberg and museum curator Cindi Strauss. These jurors were carefully chosen for the varied and unique perspectives they bring from the art jewelry community.

For complete guidelines for the Susan Beech Mid-Career Artist Grant, visit here. Proposals must be received by midnight, MST, January 16, 2017. There is no entry fee to submit a proposal. Submit entry at http://bit.ly/2017ajfgrant.

AJF:
Susan Beech is fiercely passionate about art jewelry and the talented people who create it. Her strong love for the work inspired the San Francisco-based collector to fund a new $20,000 mid-career artist grant. This international grant is the largest such opportunity available to established jewelry artists.

"I wanted to give this grant to allow for a little breathing room," Beech says in a recent interview with Art Jewelry Forum. "Breathing room to think, to be creative, [and] to not feel so much pressure. To have enough time to come up with wonderful ideas and make really interesting jewelry." Visit here for the complete interview.
