The Association for Contemporary Jewellery

is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.

We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Calling all film makers! Real to Reel, the UK’s first film festival dedicated to craft returns to Picturehouse Central, London from 2–4 May 2017 and we’re now inviting submissions.

From documentaries to story-led films to animation, we're looking for films that capture skill in action, unveil hidden processes and invite us to look again at materials and those who shape them.

Submit your films by Monday 6 February 2017.

PhysFeel Round 2: Call for Volunteers
Do you want to take part in a 3rd year undergraduate student study exploring how we interpret emotions from objects?

This study involves a 30-45 minute task that will take place at the UCL Psychology department. As a participant, you will be presented with cubes made from different materials and asked your views on how they feel and what emotions they could represent. In this second stage of the PhysFeel project, we are also interested in what might predict how people use the cubes. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire asking questions about your interest and ability to understand emotions and technological and natural systems.

If you are interested in participating, please take a look at the list of dates and times here and email Layla (uclqlmo@ucl.ac.uk) with the sessions you can make.

The more sessions you can do the more likely we are to be able to include you in the study. http://www.instituteofmaking.org.uk/blog/2016/11/call-for-volunteers
