Visual Arts Residencies 2018

 

In 2018 Cove Park will award a minimum of three funded Visual Arts Residencies of between one to three months each. Artists based throughout the UK are welcome to apply to this programme. With support from the Bridge Awards, Cove Park will also offer a four-week residency for an emerging visual artist based in Scotland. The above residencies will take place during May to September 2018. Within this period residency dates are negotiable. Please note, international artists are not eligible to apply for the above residencies in this round. Cove Park has established an International Visual Arts Advisory Board and residencies for international artists will be awarded through partnership projects and, with support of our Board, via direct invitation. The University for the Creative Arts invites speakers to take part in the 'Future Craft' Conference. This is the first of a series of biennial conferences will offer an opportunity for discussion, engagement and debate across a broad continuum of jewellery and silversmithing, whilst looking forward to exploring what the future might hold

The conference seeks to provide a framework for discussion around Jewellery and Silversmithing: ‘Entrepreneurship or Enterprise?’ It will celebrate and explore continual innovation within these industries; along with learning, development, business, context and markets.

Conditions

We invite proposals from scholars, artists and research students and welcome a range of modes and formats, from academic papers, artist talks, performative interventions etc.

Details should include:

• author/s name
• title
• email address/s and number/s,
• type of paper: ‘academic papers’, ‘artist talk’, ‘performative’ etc
• abstract 150-200 words
• statement that this work is your own and that it has not been published elsewhere (or if work has already been published give reference of this publication and how much new original content submitted)
• any proposed costs, health and safety issues, equipment that may be required
• image of self (headshot) image of work (if appropriate).

All submissions will be peer-reviewed by at least two members of the Conference Team.
The team will include jewellery and silversmithing researchers. Submissions are not to be anonymized for review; reviewers will be required to declare any conflict of interest over reviewed work.

Apply for a studio space - Cockpit Arts

Cockpit Arts is an award winning social enterprise and the UK’s only business incubator for craftspeople, housing up to 170 small businesses at our two centres in central and south London. We would like to welcome you to the first edition of Handmade Oxford, the contemporary crafts & design fair at the elegant and historic Oxford Town Hall.

The event will take place from Friday 18 May to Sunday 20 May 2018, with a private view evening reception on Thursday 17 May. For the past decade, Handmade in Britain’s shows have become the top contemporary craft selling events for designer makers in UK. This three day showcase sees the industry’s biggest talents exhibiting alongside new graduates and emerging designer-makers. One of the UK's largest and most loved craft events, The Festival brings 200 diverse and talented makers to 10,000 members of the public in beautiful Devon. Open to makers from the UK and Ireland working to the highest standards in ceramics, glass, textiles, jewellery, metal, wood, plastics, mixed media, leather, paper and recycled materials.
