The Association for Contemporary Jewellery
is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.
Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.
We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

Stephen Bottomley trained at the Royal College of Art (1999-2001) having previously studied at West Surrey College of Art and Design and the University of Brighton, which included a key period within Rhode Island School of Designs’ metal programme (USA 1998).
Stephen established his first studio in 1990 in Brighton with a Prince’s Trust Grant and now exhibits work internationally. A passionate teacher he has lectured at Hastings College of Art, the University of Brighton and the Surrey Institute of Design, before relocating to Sheffield as course leader of Metalwork and Jewellery at Sheffield Hallam University 2004-08.
Between 2005-7 he served as the fourth chairman for the Association for Contemporary Jewellery (ACJ). In 2008 he moved to Scotland as Head of Jewellery and Silversmithing at Edinburgh College of Art.
Jewellery is represented by the Crafts Council and Scottish gallery and held in collections by the British Museum, Royal College of Art and South East Arts and Crafts.

Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design will partner with Maryville University to present I.M.A.G.I.N.E. Peace Now, a powerful traveling exhibition created as a positive response to the rising tide of gun violence in America. Conceived by metalsmith Boris Bally and brought to St. Louis through the help of his long-time collector Michael Staenberg, the exhibition features works by some 100 artists who have crafted sculptures using decommissioned firearms collected during community buy-back programs.Over the last twenty years, we have seen the rise of this violence sweep into our schools, movie theaters, malls, and neighborhoods. Throughout history, artists have often served as the voices and illustrators of movements for change. This exhibition is an invitation to conversations about violence in America today and about potential constructive responses to that crisis.

Olivia SchlevogtI was born 1970 in the south of Germany and completed a jewellery apprenticeship before moving to England in 1995.Before becoming self-employed in 1999, I completed a degree in Silversmithing HND and Jewellery Design BA in England. I have since won many prizes for design and craftsmanship.Now well established in a workshop in Rochester near London, I show my work at Jewellery Fairs across the UK and selected Galleries and work to commission.

At one point, [my husband] told me to stop worrying. 'Nobody cares what clothes you wear as long as you wear really good jewelry,' he said. I have found that to be very true. I have noticed that many of the staff wear bold, beautiful jewelry daily, and I am slowly building my personal collection."

Daphne KrinosFine jeweller Daphne Krinos is known for her bold and architectural designs. Her pieces are found in the permanent collections of the V&A, the Goldsmiths Company and the Crafts Council and will be shown as part of the Cosmima Jewellery Collective exhibition at 67 York Street.
