is devoted to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of contemporary jewellery in the United Kingdom and abroad.
Founded as a membership association in 1997 and registered as a Limited Company in 2006, it recognises a need to foster discussion, debate and critical review and interaction amongst its members. To this end we organise conferences, lectures, seminars, workshops and an annual general meeting for our members. Our regular newsletter, findings, features reviews, information, comment, book offers and discounts and is of benefit to both our members and the wider public. We also produce a monthly e-bulletin featuring news and opportunities.
We welcome as members practising jewellers, associated designers and crafts people, educators, students, gallery owners and retailers, museum curators, critics and collectors - indeed, anyone with an interest in contemporary jewellery.

thread 2018: workshops on sale now!
Sat 30 June
Nine classes, all very different, all for the love of textiles. Try your hand at something new or refresh a skill in small classes led by textile experts. Classes range from blackwork to making your own sustainable shoes! A workshop ticket includes entry to the festival. See the whole line up of classes here.
The doors to the first ever Handmade Oxford are now open. Taking over two magnificent spaces within the grade II-listed Oxford Town Hall, this three-day event brings together over 90 international and UK-based designer-makers.
Discover your new favourite designers from our carefully-curated selection, showcasing fabulous jewellery, furniture, fashion and more. Makers will be on hand throughout the event to discuss bespoke commissions and reveal all about the inspirations and processes behind their work.
Head to the Town Hall to take advantage of this exclusive opportunity to browse, commission and shop directly from some of the most exciting contemporary designer-makers exhibiting under one roof.
Tickets are available in online and on the door.
Full details can be found at: handmadeinbritain.co.uk/oxford
Also at the Festival are an outdoor chimney furnace to show bronze casting in action, a make-your-own ferrofluid (magnetic liquid) stand and an hands-on pewter casting activity.
The Institute of Making shop is back as usual as is our wondrous Materials Library display. All this and much more will be yours to explore, create, delve into, design, delight in and do.
